Fuel pumps

Fuel Pumps along with brake lines etc. are "don't get caught without it"
items. Come on guys stock a few extras of this type of thing. It's worth
it when you need it. When Hugh is out sometimes you need to wait a while
too unless you have a spare. Now everyone fax that order into Gordons for a
1% discount.

At one time I had a few rebuild kits for the orig. pumps which is the best
option. I don't think AC makes them anymore. If anyone knows of a good
rebuild kit # let us know.

Mike

I also recall having previously encountered warnings somewhere concerning the use of "just any" Triumph-style fuel pump (i.e. from Spitfire engines, if memory serves), since the driver arm may be subtly different than those on the fuel pump model used in the Amphicar engines. So, before buying, comparethe replacement pump's arm contour and angle VERY carefully with the original.Mounting the wrong contour of pump may damage the engine internals (i.e. the fuel pump driver cam).

Spot-on Bilgey

Be careful out there, the pump fitted to the Spit looks the same as the Amphi but arm is different, you might be able to use the diaphram if that is all that has failed.By the way a get you home with this type of pump if it is the diaphram (normally is, that is what causes the pump to leak as the fuel drips through) is a thin sheet of rubber or even plastic sandwiched between the top of the pump and the body by those 6 or so screws. Some say after a diaphram failure you should change the oil as fuel can get in the sump but seems unlikely.

By the way don't get the idea the pump is unreliable, they are expected to last 20 years 100k miles +
