I suggest you take the warning on the fuel arm seriously. Iinstalled a "new"pump a couple of years ago, since the "old" one dripped a bit. I made it two blocks with the "new" one before the car died. Now I have half of a pumparm residing in my oil pan.The cam just ripped it in two!The old pump got me going again. No apparent permanent damage, since this was at least five years ago.

I thought about that when I cracked the arm as I was
bending it. So I ran into a buddy that is a welder and
he spot welded the cracked part. We will see what
happens next week. I will let you know how it turns
out. With all those fortunate amphi owners heading
south for some fun in the sun, someone will have give
the weather reports up north.

Yes, I had the same thing happen on a Spitfire I once
owned. The original pump arm was a solid piece of
metal that looked like it was forged. The newer
replacement pump used an arm that was stamped metal.
I made it about 3 miles before that snapped. I later
used the orginal lower half with the arm and found a
suitable upper half at the local parts store. Do not
recall if I ever removed it from the oil pan although
I think I did.
