Fried Amphi - MMMmm!

I have been in touch with this guy from New Jersey who has an Amphi
for parts. (He's asking $1500 for the whole thing) I put some pics in
the files section under "Fried Amphi".

Sad story. This car was in a garage next to a '48 Jaguar when the
place caught fire. They tossed a grappling hook through the back
window of the Jag and drug it out of the fire. The Amphicar was not
so lucky. He said this car (Ontario, Ca plates) was in pristine
condition prior to the fire.

*Please* be sure to tell him "John in Colorado" sent you.

His contact info is as follows;

Re the following earlier announcement from The Cap'n, please be advised that
this Amphi's now been sold. Since I was in the area anyhow on Friday on
other business, I swung by just to take a quick peek at it. (actually, it's
in Beltsville, Maryland, not New Jersey as was thought...the 301 area code
was the hint for a local like me).

In case the purchaser (whose name Smitty, the seller, couldn't remember
off-hand out there in the yard) would care to contact me directly for my up
close and personal impressions of the vehicle while he awaits delivery, just
send your evening/weekend phone number to me at billiam@erols.com and I'll
be happy to give you a ring. Basically, the verdict is: I've seen worse.
True, it's been pretty thoroughly burnt out (except, oddly, for the trunk
area, where the flames' draft must have risen back through the dash, since
the spare looks like one might even still be able to use it), but if someone
were in the market for a sound hull, this was a good buy. A talented body
person could do a lot with this hulk, so it's a very good thing it didn't go
to the crusher, as had originally been planned.
