This is in response to your appeal below, forwarded to the Amphicar-Lovers
Email List on your behalf by Mike Echemann.
If you can recall the VIN (vehicle identification number) of your Amphicar,
then I will be happy to search such records as are available in the
International Amphicar Owners Club to determine whether your former car may
belong to a current member. I will then be happy to facilitate a 'third
party contact', whereby I will forward your message to that member, with the
understanding that it is entirely at his or her discretion whether to reply.
This service is part of the Club's standing policy to protect the privacy of
its members while still encouraging contacts.
In the likely event that cannot recall the VIN, perhaps you'll find it in
some old vehicle registration, sale or other records...Or, perhaps the
company you sold it to may still have this information in its records.
Another possible source of similar contact might be Gordon Imports, the
world's largest Amphicar parts supplier. I would imagine that almost anyone
with an Amphicar will be in contact with them from time to time: GORDON
IMPORTS, 14330 ISELI RD.,SANTA FE SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA 90670 PHONE
562-802-1608 / FAX 562-404-1904. They may be willing to provide a similar
service.

I owned the red 1967 Amphicar used in the television series "240
Robert". I sold it to Star Cars in Santa Ana, CA in 1981. I haven't
been able to find anybody that knows where it is. You can see
pictures on the "240 Robert" website showing my behind-the-scenes
photos I took at Cabrillo Beach the day they filmed the chase and
water scenes. I was looking around your website and know of two other
vanity plates on Amphicars. Remember Howard Singer who became "Howie
the Dolphin" and crossed the Catalina channel in an Amphicar in 1978?
(He had to tow a rubber raft with extra gas and refuel in the water).
He had two Amphicars. One was licensed "C WORTHY" and the other "FEL
4 IT". Don't know what happened to him, but he was going to sail one
of his cars through the Panama Canal, etc. Any news of the
whereabouts of my red 67 Amphicar would be appreciated. Robert H.
