Hi everybody
Got a red 66 for sail, and it's 90% restored, almost two years in the process.
The only
reason Im selling this car is I bought a Blue 63.
Anyway, I took the 66 in the water for the first time today-Ya-hoo!!!
everything went
great. I have second thoughts about selling this car because it is nicer than my
blue one.
First of all it's nov in Boston and the 66 has a big heater (top not installed
yet) so it was
nice to be warm and dry on a 30 deg day with the top off.
Did I say dry, yes, the doors do not leak, and after new quarters and trays the
dribble was
at a minimum, I was very pleased, thanks to everyone who helped me rebuild this
car.
I have spent a lot of time and money on this car and today was the day to see
the pay off,
the ride was great, very well worth the effort.
I was not to scared taking this car in the water because I am use to to it now.
I spent the
summer using my blue 63 every night in Maine, My wife, dog ,and I love it.
So today when I made the plunge I knew what to do, take the back seat out,
engine cover
unlocked and opened once in the water, I taped off the door drain holes, and
checked for
leaks, I was relived to see only a few small dribbles from bolt holes in the
engine
compartment, success, a job well done.
The reason for this post is to share my excitement for the first swim, it was
great,
something about driving a car into the water that gets your heart pumping.
I look forward to your replies to this post, it was a very rewarding day for me
and I am sure
you all remember your first swim and can relate to my exciting day.
Thanks
Brian
