Engine out and back in

Hi
I pulled engine last week after a few years of putting it off. First off I want to thank everyone for the knowledge they have shared on this site. That knowledge has given me the confidence to do this job. I prepped, disconnected, and removed what was needed and pulled motor by myself on the third day. I have been collecting parts and making my plans for three years now so I was eager to get going on it.
I replaced clutch, water/ land tranny seal, driveshaft seals on trans, mounts, gaskets, and cleaned as I went. Spent a few days wrenching and having fun working on car. After I buttoned up transmission and had it all sealed up I emptied the drain pan and found a big washer. After a little disappointment I laughed and opened up the transmission and installed the washer in record time.
So far my plan and organization has been good with a few small setbacks but all funny. For example I took the little ball used on the water tranny to hold the shifter in place and put it in a plastic bad so I wouldn't lose it. When I emptied the bag on the bench the ball bounced and was gone. I scoured the cleanly sweep floor and nothing, no ball. Next day when I entered the shop there it was in a crack on the bench. I just shook my head and laughed.
The motor is back in and partly hooked up. Going to install new muffler, carb, and then do all the oils and annual service. Keeping my fingers crossed I should have this finished soon and be back in the water.
Will keep you posted.
THanks
Brian

Hi
Engine back in and test drive was good. Wow I'm so excited. I am mechanically inclined but not a mechanic. So to pull an engine and install a clutch, open up a transmission, and seal it up, and wire everything is quite an accomplishment for me.
What I am is a Cabinetmaker and I used some of my woodworking knowledge and skills to do this job. Good shop skills and habits really helped. Lots of tools and wrenches. Clean shop and floor swept. I cut plywood to cover part of the floor in the car to kneel on, and cut a smaller piece to place on top of water tranny to lay on when trying to get to the engine from the back seat. Sounds simple but a big help. I set seals with wood blocks when I didn't have a socket big or deep enough. Lots of photos along the way and kept everything clean.
Hopefully I will finish up today and have a fresh car/boat for summer.
Thanks again for all the help over the years for the information I have picked up from all of you.
Gotta get out in the shop and finish up.
Brian
