Engine knock

well group, it looks like I will not be able to take part in the Boston swin in.
My car has just developed a lower end knock. It looks like the engine will have
to be pulled, torn down to find out whats going on. If I'm lucky there won't be
to much damage and I'll still get some use out of it this season.

How about suggestions on things to looks for or things to be careful of when I
pull the engine. I may want to replace the clutch while I have the engine out.
Are these parts available and at what price. Be gentle, it's my first time.

Sounds like bottom end bearings. There is a good
discusion on doing the bearings and thrust washer at:

Procedure is essentially the same on the Amphi engine.
These parts are readily available.

I think NOS clutch parts may be hard to find but there
has been good feedback on the high performance clutch
kits which John Friese is offering at:
http://www.amphicar.com/ads.htm
