Ed Howard Amphicar Restoration complete

I am pleased to announce that my fourteen month restoration of my 1964 Amphicar is now complete. Although we all know that there will ALWAYS be something to do on an Amphicar, mine is pretty much done. I have attached a couple of photos, but if anyone is interested, I created a 400 photo slide show on Kodak Gallery showing the entire process of my restoration step-by-step.

Please email me directly at edsonh2000@yahoo.com and I will send you this link if desired.

I would like to publically thank Gordon Imports for all of their great parts, as well as their patient help with the hundred of questions that they answered along the way. Scott Brunner at Gordon's is my hero!

Now I am ready for the Spring classic car show circuit. Wish me luck!

Swim on!

She's looking really good, Ed! Probaby swims faster too . . . . although it seems Amphi had a tough time keeping up with you before. Are the Playboy & Isetta in the restoration mix also?

Enjoy the spring and summer -- sure seems like a long time getting here

I believe this car was bought from David Fields in Wolf Islant Ontario, and David has missed it ever since. He finally broke down and Bought a white car from London Ont. this winter that I have to pick up on my way home and get water ready for him.
Your car now looks alot better than the last time I saw it.

Yes, Gord you are correct that this was David's former car. You came to my house once several years ago. I should also thank you for your great insulation kit that you sold me that I finally installed during this restoration.

And thanks to everyone for their kind words about my car.

It sure is fulfilling to see it done.

I am not sure that we are talking about the same thing here, but I did not perform any transmission repairs duting this 2008-2009 restoration.

The reason I am stratching my head is that I DID have to repair the transmission lip back in 2004. I took it to a welder who specialized in aluminum welding.

Of course, I no longer have that transmission at all, as it froze up soon after that and was switched out for a rebuilt tranny at that time.

If you are talking about repair to the tunnel itself, that work was also performed by the body shop that did all the body/paint work during this restoration.

Did I answer your question?

Okay Ed. I was likely remembering the 1st tranny as that was likely the one I saw before you purchased the car. This car has come quite a long way since then and the pictures look good.

Super. I did not know that you knew such ancient history of my car! Ha Ha. Yup, it's not really the same car anymore that you knew. Thanks for all the kind words!
