Big Lake has their display on July 3, to beat the
rush, I guess.
With 2 neighbors as passengers we launched about
7:30pm in unusual NW splendor: severe clear, about 72
degrees and a very light breeze. A lot of fun chop
and waves for the first couple of hours as the
"tubers", skiers, and just "speeders" were mixing up
the water. We pulled out a few times to briefly join
some lakeside parties (bonfires, a good looking
buffet/bar & a live band were prime selection
factors). Everyone enjoyed Amphi and simoulanteously
asked the standard batches of questions. Always fun
and surprising as we've frequently swum on this lake.
Many people must have way too much money to
(literally) burn, as the many private displays were
quite impressive. The big show began about 10:20 as
we floated below w/ other boats. We backed off a bit,
as their "safe zone" seemed rather close. A
beautiful, elaborate display ($5.00 donations went to
the local Search & Rescue) lasting about 30 minutes.
The cruise back to the ramp was as smooth as glass,
ending a great evening!
Happy Birthday, America!
