Subject: [General Amphicar Discussion-t-20360] Door Window help
Can anyone tell me if the vent window frame and the rear window track
bottoms are supposed to touch the side of the door it looks like the bottom
where it bolts to the door bottom is angled is for that purpose. I have
replaced the door bottoms so the bolt holes are gone for mounting these and
I need to drill new holes in the bottom. I addition, is there a shim that
goes between the rear track and the door side ? ( where the latches are).
The window does not track evenly up and down. Maybe someone could measure
where all the holes are on the bottom, including the drain holes. Thanks for
any help Jeff Red 62 thats geting close
Jeff:
I think you are referring to part # 11-37-1k, the vent window frame
assembly. Yes, there is a tab at the bottom end that is supposed to be
bolted through the bottom edge of the door. Take a look at the Official
Parts Manual at
http://www.amphicar.com , and you can see the frame, with
its little tab and associated bolt (parts 11-37-15 & 11-37-16).
If you have already repaired the door bottom edge, and have lost the
location of the hole, then you will have to fit the frame and mark the bolt
yourself. The vent window and main window need the bracing provided by
bolting the bottom of the vent window guide, but you need to be sure you get
the angle of the frame right. Too far back, and the main window binds. Too
far forward, and the vent window may chafe the windshield frame.
