Door handle spring

The spring that returns the thumb piece on the outside door handle broke
into several pieces. Anyone know of a replacement piece or source?

Hello Randy,

You can make up a replacement spring yourself. Hobby shops sell what
they call "music wire" in many thicknesses. This wire is spring wire.
Buy a piece that's the same thickness as the original spring wire and
wind it around something like a pencil to form a coil spring from it.
When you cut off the extra, use a hardened cutter or carbide wheel
because this spring wire is very tough and will damage normal wire
cutters.

Sounds good. Got to figure out when I can swing by. It may be a week or
two. Coming up to the Russian store anytime soon? We'll be swimming
