Bearcat Motors started their only year in business of 1967 with a booth and display at one of the longest running and important auto shows in the country. This was the home turf of the Big Three, but Bearcat would be there with a single car made in Germany to sell.
Yusif (Joe) Barakat and Roger Crowe attended the show and spent 3 days showing the Amphicar they brought to display. The show is attended by hundreds of media and industry professionals and thousands of people in the general public each year, so the potential for sales leads was virtually unlimited.
Roger was in his early 20’s, recently married and this was his first job in sales. Roger’s father Raleigh was also a salesman and partner in Bearcat Motors, so Roger was excited at the opportunity to attend the show. His wife Sandy stopped by the booth with their infant son, and both were captured in these wonderful never seen black & white pictures.
Roger and his young family are captured in their moment of excitement for their future together as is Bearcat Motors and Yusif Barakat for the future of his company, just started on January 1st of that year. Although Bearcat Motors only lasted one year, Roger and Sandy are still together more than 50 years later!
