Dealer installed Accessories Thread

Finding invoices for purchases of Amphicar dealer installed accessories is rare, but actually finding the same exact pieces on those invoices after 60 years is worth mention.

This picture shows a couple invoices from the famous anchor manufacturer Paul R. Salomon where Bearcat bought 30 65004S cleats. He installed 3 on each Amphicar, one in the center of the engine cover, and one at the bottom edge of the windshield on each side.



I have evidence of at least 2 cars found with the cleats and these cleats is from Mark Amsdill's green car.

Hickok generic seat belt installed by Bearcat Motors as an accessory.
Similar belts were installed in the Porsche 911 with the Porsche crest rather than the Fleur de lis on these. Note the "crab claw" floor mount perfect for the Amphicar floor "loop". These rare original belts are installed in my car now.

Mike Echemann shared these pictures of flare kits that he found in the Bearcat car he purchased from the lion tamer in Detroit.
I was able to locate invoices from the purchase of them from Paul Salomon supply from 1967.

Note: Paul Salomon made anchors and sold them for many years. Do you have one?

Another item Bearcat Motors supplied with each car was a 10 pound anchor with rope. Here we see the anchor and invoice from Paul R. Salomon on 3/2/1967 signed at the bottom by RM Crowe, the original owner of the blue car now owned by Roger Sallee.

Also interesting to note the anchor is cast with the name Paul R. Salomon as he made a good living selling these for many years in the Detroit area. You can still find them on various online sellers websites. This one thanks to Mark Amsdill who is restoring the only green car Bearcat sold.
