Data plate information

My Amphicar did not come with a data plate so I am about to get one engraved. I was double checking my numbers and ran across a discrepancy. All of my paperwork says that my engine number is "GK1047HE" however the engine itself is stamped " GKI047HE" with the letter "I" where the "1" was thought to be. Did Standard parts or whoever stamped the block use an "I" in place of the "1" or is it actually supposed to be the letter "I"? Anyone have engine serial numbers similar to this?

It should be a 1 (one). It could have just been a mistake as you said.
