Color codes and paint suggestions and transport tie down tips

Hello group!
I am mid strip down on my 1964. I bought a running driving car in
northern California, and like an idiot, I decided to restore it
instead od driving it for a while. It is truly horrifying, I just
hope that I can remember where all those pieces go... The car was
painted a gawdawful blue metallic that only Earl Sheib himself could
bear, but the sandblaster should take care of that. My question is,
does anyone have a Dupont Chromabase basecoat colorcode for the
White/Ivory colored cars? Any tips or suggestions on extra prep or
sealers like glovit?
Also, has anyone seen got any idea about where to attach tie down
straps or chains for transport?? I was told that one very strong
place to tie down at the rear is the prop shaft housing forward of
the support bracket. Where do you guys attach straps in the front?

Does the group have a place to post pictures??

I think some have researched the paint codes but a good shop can easily have
their paint supplier sample and match your white if you can fine a good sample
spot. Try under the rear top trim strip or under the windshield weatherstrip if
you remove it. You can also try and search your topic here:

Regarding strapping down your car: Some owners use wheel straps but if you use
regular chains or tie downs don't attach them at the prop shafts, bumpers, axles
etc. You should guide them over your oscillating arms (best described as the
cast iron part that your shock mounts to at the bottom) but stay away from your
brake line.

I personally like Glu-vit but I've heard some negatives. It's like anything
else, try not to use it as a fix but as added protection once your cars been
done right. We have some great club members in CA. so check the member roster
for someone in your area to.

Thr original paint code for the original Beach Sand
White is Ditzler 8703=DAR offset 90113. Although the
manufacturers have gone out of business/merged/etc,
your paint supplier should be able to cross reference
to your Imron or Chromabase. A good epoxy primer is
never remiss, but there may be a special primer for
the Imron.

Call Ed Howard in Orange County. I know he is in
contact with an experienced Amphicar bodyguy in that
area.
