clutch cable

Hi-

I am replacing a clutch cable that had been modified from the original. I
have a Gordon Imports replacement.

Can anyone describe where the black sheath-ends screw in or are placed and
the path that the cable takes to get to the clutch lever. A picture would
help.

Thanks.

Ronquil,

Replace all fluids, check and replace double-lip seals (If trans
is out too), inspect your clutch assy and throw-out bearing. Check
trans mounts, inspect floor and tunnels of the car for damage. Lube
everything, clean the rest. If your engine has been running hot,
have the radiator checked out or maybe boiled out for good measure.
CLOSELY Inspect the oil cooler and lines! Replace if they look or
feel hardened. Inspect the water pump for play in the shaft. A good
look over all those things that are not as accessable with it
installed.

NO, NO! That should be just wiped clean and checked for cracks. Be
sure if replacement is required, used ONLY a carbon type (the bearing
type will tend to rust and make noise)

Re: Re: Clutch cable

There is nothing sweeter than how nice an Amphi clutch works with the
carbon type throwout bearing. Quiet and smooth. Too bad they wear
quicker than the roller bearing type.

Here we go again, 2 questions

I need to know how much throw there is supposed to be when you depress the clutch pedal, that is what is the overall movement of the cable?

Alsoare the threaded ends on the cable metric? if so what size and pitch.

I have a shop that will make me teflon lined solid strand clutch cables, We're working on emerg brakeand throttle cables.

Willupdate as we go along

The cable will move 1" when the pedal is depressed to the floor.

The nut for the clutch cable is a M8.
