Club Events Calendar

Having just returned from vacation a few days ago, I've been trying to catch
up with the Club Web Site's Events Calendar at
http://www.amphicar.com/calendar.htm largely based on postings to this List.

There are lots of gatherings coming up, but if I've missed anything, or if
you're planning your own get together, let the Club know at
events@amphicar.com and we'll get an announcement right up. As it stands,
below is a plain vanilla text rundown on what's up there right now (please
visit the actual web page for photos, links, contacts, etc.).

Enjoy!

Do you miss those Upstate New York
Amphicar Swim-Ins of yore?

Then join us for the 2nd Annual Amphistock Swim-In being held on Sunday,
August 18th from 2PM until dusk in special conjunction with the Between The
Tides Festival at the Saugerties Lighthouse located on the Hudson River in

www.saugertieslighthouse.com.

All Amphicars and Amphifriends are welcome. Please RSVP to Mark Braunstein
at mark@towerpower.com for more details if you can make this unforgettable
but casual afternoon of live music, Amphicars and great local eats.

The Lighthouse is itself a memorable Bed & Breakfast. Other recommended

September 6-7, 2002: Lake Norman, North Carolina

The Piedmont British Motor Club has invited all of us again to participate
in their car festival on Lake Norman, NC. Last year Amphicars were featured.
A couple of nice things about this show is that it is held at Queen's
Landing on beautiful Lake Norman just North of Charlotte, and the show is
held in conjunction with the Greater Charlotte Antique and Classic Boat
Festival. Amphicars and Classic Boats, what could be better than that? The
festival is September 6 and 7.

If you are interested, and did not receive an application, contact me and I
will forward you the information I have. I hope to see some of you there.

September 21-22: Flathead Festival & Swim-In in Mays Landing, NJ

The epic Flathead Festival and Swim-In, which usually takes place every year
on Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend will be postponed this year until
the weekend of 9/21-22: Party Saturday and swim on Sunday. The reason for
changing the dates is Billy's filming of Junk Yard Wars.
Let us know if you are planning to come as soon as you figure it out. We
need to know about how much food to buy. Assuredly it will be a smaller
party than usual because of the date change, so we need to get a handle on
food and beverages.

Thanks, Randy (Mrs. Splash King)

September 28, 2002: Somernites Cruise in Somerset Kentucky

Club Member Steven Fischer is hosting a gathering on Lake Cumberland in
South Central Kentucky. This casual Amphicar outing is being held during
one of Somerset's monthly Somernites Cruises weekend classic car concourses.
The Amphicars will be swimming and hanging out at Lees Ford Marina, where
Steve has a houseboat and frequently swims his own Amphi. The marina will
be fine hosts for the weekend. Motel and cottage rentals are available at
the Marina itself, or you can find a list of alternative lodgings right
here.

October 4-6, 2002: Swim with Marty & Caryl Peters in Wisconsin

Come experience October in Wisconsin on the water: the boats are off the
water, the tourists are back home, the leaves are turning, the air is crisp,
the water is smooth and all ours. Come stay with us, bring your RV (ours is
available to use as well), pitch a tent (or use one of ours), limited space
is even available in our home. We are a few minutes from Lake Koshkonong (we
live on a finger into the south side of the Lake); we are 7 miles from
Anchor Inn. Bring your swimsuits, if it's warm enough we'll be using the
pool and if it's too cold for the pool, the hot tub will feel mighty nice.
The Anchor Inn on the Rock River is our gathering place for fun on Saturday.
They will host lunch on Saturday and we have a few places on the water
picked out for dinner that evening. Breakfast on Sunday at the Red Apple
before our last swim and heading home.
Please contact us off list to let us know you are attending and we will
provide you with a map, directions and our phone numbers. Come party in
Wisconsin's picturesque October!!! We sincerely hope to see you.
