I've used the plastic chrome trim many times.
Here's what I've done to put it on a fin.
First, wait for a nice warm day.
Next, cut the trim a little longer than needed, then place it it HOT water.
Now, as quickly as possible, so it doesn't cool, place it on the front of
the fin & work your way to the back. Keep in mind it may shrink when cool,
so when you're putting it on, DON"t stretch it.
Try to push it together as you're placing it on. This is especially
important when going around the sharp bend of the fin. You may want to use a
hair drier at this point.
Remember, it may shrink a little, so trim it as long as possible.
