Celina Tech Sessions

Not knowing the time frames we may have for each session, most of
these may fit within 1 to 1 1/2 hours, We think:

1. We have a new top that we have been wanting to install and would
just love to have more of our Amphicar friends learn how it is done
while we learn at the same time.

2. We need to replace a left rear wheel seal and again would just
love for more to see how it's done, again as we learn too. I believe
we have all the correct parts.

3. We need to replace the bearings in one of our prop shaft
housings, you know the rest. We have the parts.

4. Clutch adjustment. Ours needs it every once in a while.

5. Brake hose replacement and adjustment, maybe in the water, oh,
yes these need it too. I will order the new parts from Hugh if we
are able to do this.

6. The rubber gaskets around our front hood need replacing and we
have the replacement gaskets and 3M adhesive. Anybody else been
wanting to learn this?

Thanks for letting us put our 6 cents in,
Marty & Caryl
BUOYANT in WI
'64 Turq that needs all of the above like Doug said.

Lots of great ideas have been posted so I thought I'd toss in my own
request. I'd love to attend Celina this year but it doesn't look like
I'll make it from Alaska. Anyone want to vidio tape the tech Session's
for me? I'll pay for the trouble???

==============

Here's a roundup on the whole "Celina Film" topic: There were some hopes
that this year's gathering could be videotaped, featuring interviews of the
attendees, the events and so on. A couple of feelers were sent out to
commercial film makers in the Celina area by the Board, but these resulted
in some prohibitively high quotes for the job. There were then proposals
sent out to over 40 local Ohio college Film and Media Studies departments
(see http://www.amphicar.com/film.htm ) offering a student filmmaker or
filmmakers the opportunity to earn $1,200 for an interesting weekend gig and
promising the fullest artistic freedom. I sent these proposals out myself,
so nobody's more surprised and disappointed than I am that we received NOT A
SINGLE REPLY!...not even a nibble. Back when I was a Communications Studies
major at Antioch in Yellow Springs, Ohio I would have LEAPED at such a
chance!

So right now, all I can say is bring your cameras. The best Swim-In film I
have seen, the one I've actually rewound more than just once, was Randy
Tusone's 1996 effort when we met in Fultonville, NY on the Mohawk River.
With a little luck maybe we can slap together a similar "pastiche" ourselves
from everyone's collected shots, including interviews and the Tech Sessions.

As for film VIEWING, I will be bringing along a few tapes of this and that
media oddity from the Amphicar.net Library, including the original German
and an English-dubbed version of that "Lustschrei im Urwald" everyone was
talking about a while back. It's not exactly soft porn...it's more like
"nerf-porn", and was taped off of German TV, so how racy could it be, right?
Although there's no plans to make such an "Amphicar Film Festival" an
official Club-sponsored event, at least this year, I'm sure we can
informally rig up showings of this or other films for anyone interested.
