K.D.,

Holiday Inn Express, Tel. 419-586-4919, is fine: Nice pool, jacuzzi,
decent continental breakfast, plentiful trailer parking and so on and so
on. Most years I've gone to Celina, it seems its lot is also something
of a last minute or emergency repair and Amphi-tech hangout, though
whether this has more to do with who's staying there or its proximity to
a cool post-wrench shower or to escape the constant barrage of daft
onlooker questions you'll continue getting even while grunting through
the swap of a bad fuel pump in the Eagles lot (the REAL epicenter of
Swim-In Celina), is difficult to determine. It's just a couple of
minutes drive to the Eagles.

The America's Best Value Inn, Tel. 419-586-4656, (formerly the Comfort
Inn) is perhaps not as "smarmy" or facilities-rich as the Holiday Inn
Express, but it IS right across the street from the Eagles. For the
past couple of years it has been under new management, which by many
accounts is a certainly good thing. If you want a bird's eye view of
the action in the Eagle's Lot and don't really care if some toast is
waiting for you in the lobby Saturday morning, this is probably the
place to be.

In past years I used to stay at Holiday Inn, then at the superb Heiser
Haus B&B, but regrettably the Heiser Haus closed down two years ago.

Bottom line: Celina's hotels fill up fast for the Lake Festival...like
already in February or March. You're almost too late anyhow to be able
to pick and choose, so grab whatever room you can if it's free, and, in
a pinch, keep watching this List for cancellation announcements by other
Amphi owners.
For a larger list of area hotels that's not trying to sell you a room at
any particular one, see http://www.seemore.org/lodging.html

And now for the bad news: I will not be able to join you all this year
in Celina. Work's leading me off to Germany for most of July and a good
chunk of August. But, I'll see you next year...That's a promise.

It is a newer facility, well kept which is not true of all the area hotels, has a decent complimentary breakfast, pool, etc. WalMart is also just across the street should you need a bilge pump, oil, bondo, etc. Very close to the Eagles but far enough away to get some sleep.
