Celina 2005

I have just found out a confirmation on the dates of Celina 2005. It looks
like next years big event will be held July 22-25, 2005. As many of you
know, the Holiday Inn Express goes out of their way to accommodate the
Amphicars, and will open the entire hotel to Amphicar folks. Their computer
will not accept reservations a full year in advance, so we have to wait
until it opens to reservations. Well, that date is this Sunday, August 8 at
7:00 am Eastern. If you'd like to book a room, call Sunday after 7:00.
Their phone number is 419-586-4919. A few years ago we had some
non-Amphicar people sneak into the reservation lists, so the hotel will have
a IAOC Membership Roster. This will ensure only Amphicar people get rooms.
Be sure to thank them for taking care of the Amphicar crowd!

Tom and Cindy,
Following is an email I posted on the Digest back on the 6th. I'm
not sure who told you the 15th, but these are the dates of the
event...
I'm going to give them a call at the hotel and see what's up, and
I'll let you know, Tom.

Mike is correct. I can't recall any past year when some rooms at the
Holiday in didn't come available as Celina got closer.
If your wanting a room you should consider the Amerihost in St. Mary's.
It's only minutes away down Rt.29 which runs right by the Eagles and Holiday
Inn. The drives only a few minutes and is a great little run to loosen
Amphi up at 65MPH.

There are other places around to stay and camping is available in several
areas too. Here is the link for the Festival in case anyone wants to save
it in their favorites.

Hey, I still think Celina is GREAT place to continue to hold the event.
Change is nice but where else will we get all the benefits.
Central location (for many), Super Friendly Folks, Free Banquet facilities,
Great Lake, Eagles, Moose...Cap'n Johns Favorite Location , parade, lake
festival, fireworks, drive in (Anyone have a movie suggestion assuming the
new board schedules it again?), the retirement home, etc. etc. etc.

One more place to add to my favorites is the across the lake trip including
Island stop over. And before I forget, I want to spend another Afternoon at
MIKE BAYMAN's favorite watering hole. Can't remember the name of the place.

Dan,

I'm sorry about your room reservation problems. My experience is
similar to the others that have responded to your email. My work is
such that I never know if I can go to Celina until about a month ahead.
I've always managed to reserve a room at the Amerihost. So, with room
reservation in hand I simply wait until a room pops open at the
Holiday Inn Express. Last year, a room opened up at the Holiday Inn
Express while we were driving to Celina, so I quickly canceled my
Amerihost room. Even without that room, the Amerihost is great.

Thanks to the new board for putting on such a nice event. The parade and
all the activities were great! I don't think I've ever seen the lake so
smooth either. We enjoyed seeing our friends and having a fun weekend. See
