I learned these tonight.
1. The little steel ball likes to get glued down the the bottom of it's shaft
when a carb has been sitting up for 20 years
2. Beware the float chamber valve that comes with rebuild kits! Mine was just a
shade shorter than the original. Result: first a steady drip from the central
jet, and when the car was turned off, massive carb flooding due to the float not
being able to close the valve. I ended up putting the original back in. Really,
all
the kit is good for is the power valve.

Finally, it sure seems to take a long time for all the nasty built up crud to
burn off the exhaust manifold!
