Car show window sticker

Here's the car show information window sticker I made up for the local car show
yesterday. It keeps from answering some of the same questions over and over
again as well as giving a little information to those when you're off seeing
other things. I printed it on standard paper using appropriately sized fonts,
styles and alignments.

Amphicar
"The Car That Swims"

1964 Amphicar owned by (your name, city and state here)

World?s only mass produced passenger amphibious vehicle, manufactured in
Germany. About 4000 units were sold between 1962-68 with some 3100 imported to
the U.S. Only about 900 remain today with perhaps half of those in driveable
condition and half of those water worthy. Fortunately, most replacement parts
are still available.

Specifications:
Maximum speeds - land 75 MPH, water 10-12 MPH
Engine - 43 HP Triumph Herald 1147cc, 4 cylinder
Transmission - 4 forward plus reverse, water - 1 fwd, 1 rev
Mileage - approximately 32 MPG on land
Price when new - $3200

I got the historical information from various fact sheets I found and the
specifications from an Amphicar sales brochure.

What does everyone think? Is this data fairly accurate? Any corrections or
suggestions? It might be helpful for everyone to keep something like this in
their glove compartments for when the occasion arises. I also pasted a few
pictures of the Amphicar doing what it does best on some cardboard to place on
the front hood. I also like to prop open the engine hood with mast and
"Amphicar" flag in place. Most people are really curious, and intrigued, to see
what makes an Amphicar run.

Ken:

Your proposed fact sheet for the curious is a good
one. Another suggestion that I used was to go to the
"Oddies But Goodies" section of Hemmings Motor News
online. They have a write up on the Amphicar which I
copied and made flyers out of.

I have only had my car for less than two weeks and
have already passed out about 10 of the flyers to the
curious.

I think the water speed is high. Taking my hand held GPS into three
typical cars (with standard engines) on flat water (with standard
equipment, spare tire, 3/4 full gas tank, 2 people, etc...), I get a max 8
knots ... and on the low side of 8 (i.e, maybe a little flicker between 8
back to 7 then back up to 8, but never have I seen 9 knots indicated).
The 1500cc conversion cars do go a little faster. What have others actually
measured? Thus, my opinion is 9 to 10 MPH (with a tail wind....and 1.15
knots to MPH conversion). "Economy" cruise seems about 6 knots.

Just my opinion
