Bumpers and Chrome

Jim, It's hard to avoid rust spots and flaking chrome one the back
side of Amphicar bumpers. The chrome usually does not want to go
there during the chroming process. I have to clean and paint the backs
of the bumpers I sell.
The reason I am making new bumpers is that re-chroming takes metal
away and no really nice front bumpers are availible that will take
another re-chrome job.

<tt><span class="347404602-19092005"><font face="Century Schoolbook" color="#0000ff" size="4">Just wondering if there is any small or sports-car bumper that will approximate the Amphi front bumper. Maybe some bracket workwill be required, but maybe some design might look good. I see the bumper as more cosmetic than anything. You sure aren't going to push anybody, you don't jack at the bumper, and we've seen enough damaged bumpers and bent brackets. True, anything that protects the hull integrity and the hood seal is worth having, but I still think of the "bumper" as more of a "trim strip."</font></span></tt>
