bildge blower hose routing

Can anyone describe how the bildge blower hoses should be hooked
up? I have the heater under the gas tank. The inlet to the blower
goes to the inlet under the spare tire. How do the two small outlets
hook up? I have the piece that "y's" into the defroster duct on the
left side. Where does this mount to? Does the hookup on the fender
vent point front or rear (or is it fore and aft). How long should the
blower run before it "times out"? I have heard 30 seconds, Mine runs
for minutes before I give up and push the button. Can anyone tell me
how to troubleshoot this system? If all it needs is a timer tube I
would be willing to buy one but I want to be sure that will fix it
first.
Thanks

Bill,

See http://www.amphicar.net/minnow/Assemblies/bilgeblower.JPG and it
will give you a good idea how the hoses route. I have also uploaded a
pic called "View of the inside of my trunk" in the files section that
may help.

The small hoses connect between the "Y" and the small outlet at the
bilge blower
The "Y" mounts to the drivers side fuel tank strap bolt facing
rearward.
The blower exhaust (on the fender) mounts facing rearward.
The blower should run either 30 secs or 2 mins depending on which
timer (glass tube behind blower panel)is installed.

Hope this helps,

Bill,
The exhaust assembly mounts so that the hose goes up and forward
toward the blower assembly. The reason is simple. Water trying to
get in has to go up, almost all the way to the top of the fender,
before it can get over and into the blower unit. I have two cars and
the blower units work fine on both. If the small wire, going to the
forward most relay mounting screw, doesn't get a good electrical
connection, the blower will run forever. Of course you could have
other problems too. If the tube is cracked, it will burn out the
heater coil and that's all she wrote for that tube. I believe the
original timer tube was a 2 minute timer device. Some guys, including
me, have switched the tube to a 30 (or even 15) second unit. I just
can't wait 2 minutes. With a 30 second delay, I'm more likely to
actually let it run it's full cycle rather than jump on the override
button.
