Do you use the Spicer 5-297x or the 5-297-1x (greasable) u-joints when rebuilding the axles? What do you use to clip the u-joint cups back into the axles shafts? I don't think there are any grooves in the shafts for the modern day inside slip rings to fit into.

The order on your axle parts appears different than the Amphicar manual!! Manual (and my car) have outer bearing spacer inside of the bearing and not outside like your picture. Probably doesn't make too much difference, but just curious.

The axle nut has to be supper tight, around 250 ft lbs.
the NEW(don't reuse) swing arm bolts have to be very tight too. or axle will wobble..10mm bolt, exra hardened,do not drive in with hammer, use tool. torque to 60 ft lbs.
