With gas climbing to 3.25 per gal today, I decided to burn up some of
the cheap gas in the tank of Amphi and "take an Amphi to work day" was
conceived.
Little bugger works great and runs good in the cool Wisconsin morning
air. Out to lunch I go over to the large Lake Winnebago a mile from
the salt mine to eat some lunch and watch the seagulls divebomb
picnicers.
OK, so there are a couple looking at the car. I can see them from a
distance checking it out and looking around. I ignore them and they go
away, until they stop someone and ask "who owns this car"? Turns out
they ask a former co-worker who knows me and he tells them "that guy
over there". OK, I will do my duty. Turns out I have located another
Amphi owner in Fond du Lac other than me! Not a club member, but lives
close by. Bought the car from Dan Borgman in Fla and attends the Mt.
Dora events with Pete Freedsall (sp)! His is a white 67 in original
condition from a minister original owner from Fl who towed some sort
of sign behind it (insert joke here). We got along swimmingly (sheesh)
and now I got a new Amphi buddy. Turns out he knew about me (been here
only 12 mos.) as someone spotted me and told him.
You just never know what will happen while driving an Amphi.!
Have a safe holiday and take a swim!
