Amphipoda escapes Ohio... barely.
Didn't want the weekend to end. So
many nice Amphicars and Amphibians,
and the townsfolk were awesome too.
Once the sun set and the beverages
loosened up the finned masses... it
was like Disneyland and Octoberfest
all in one. My sides still ache from
laughing so much & my socks have
a very strange green tint about them.
Dave the Wave again won the over 20
minute bilge marathon and the under
20 blonde babe passenger manifest.
From check-in to check-out it was
non-stop rides, waves, drinks, and
some of the best organized fun the
International Amphicar Owners Club
has ever put together. Amphibian of
the Year Award Winners for 2002:
John Bevins, Mike Israel, and Marc
Schlemmer - all well deserving gents.
Thanks to all who came, shared rides,
trusted me to actually drive, and a
special thanks to all those behind the
scenes organizing and fussing to make
it all happen so well - from the cool
name badges and dash plaques, to the
apex of Saturday's scheduled events...
We ALL had the best time with each
other and the 60+ best amphibious
handling cars in the water and best
driving boats on land. Simply magic!
Paul L., Toni & John F., and Steve R.
damaged my Mermaid with tainted
orange juice (vodka) drinks, so most
of Sunday was hugging pillows and
gasping hotel room air-conditioning.
Airport security was the only negative.
Yours truly was detained, questioned
and nearly cavity searched for the un-
lawful possession of a bottle opener...
thanks Paul, next time I'll buy twist-
off beverages. Last one on the plane,
last one outta Ohio... good to be home,
but I'd much rather be swimming with
you - my fine finned friends.
