Hi everyone this is fron Dave the Wave, "A real first class guy"

"I am offering this ultra rare handmade, one of only twelve produced large Amphicar models. My Dad - Grand Pa Wave made these as "Thank You's" to those that had helped Me with Brown Wonder. This one is signed and dated (August 2000). Our friend Cap'N John Bevins has been handed round of round of knock down punches this past year (years). You all know him! All money raised goes right to John. Maybe a group could get together and really up the ante. Maybe You just want to kck in a few bucks.....just do it. Just think about the times You saw Cap'N John helping others. I was feeling a bit down one day and called John. I asked how do You do it? What do You think to keep going? He said "Dave ,I wake up and everyday sucks, then I get over it and go to work!" Mother Teresa would say"There are no problems just gifts from God". How many times has John been Your gift from God? Later Dave the Wave"

OK Boys and Girls, it is time to show some of that Christmas spirt. Dave sure is and now it's our turn.
Lets us all do what we can. Tommy in Tampa

Just a reminder folks-------bid on this---Amphicar model handmade by GrandPa Wave FUND RAISER - eBay (item 300277866047

If agreeable to all bidders or some bidders, the model becomes group property to be shared, but more importantly it provides a much larger gift to one in need. All you have to do is make a bid, then pay your bid price, win or lose, everyone wins.

I will forward this to Gordon Imports to be sure they see it in time, they seem to have a lot of spare money to buy high priced advertising on The Lovers Digest, what with the banners that appears when anyone makes a post, and I'm sure they would welcome more attention that owning a part of this model would bring

Bidding is over Monday @17:46 PST

I tried to bid to contribute to this worthy cause, but Ebay will only let me
bid above the current price of $544.0. How do I contribute a smaller amount
than that?

Good question, I thought about that after my idea of sharing the car

Its Daves deal but---
maybe cancel it and start over or----
the winner puts it back up for another auction with a low starting bid and all can comfortably participate

I made my contribution earlier. Dave Derer said to just send him a paypal payment and denote that the purpose is for John's Fundraiser. Dave's paypal account is his email: dmd@essex1.com
He'll probably take checks too!
Later,

Problem with relisting it would be that ebay would take a cut every time.

Best bet might be to simply PayPal Dave with whatever amount you would have bid.* He can then post a list of contributions and send that amount off to John.* (In fairness to Dave, that amount should be contribution minus paypal transaction fees).

Cheers,

Mike

To all of my Amphi-friends,

I have tried several times to respond to this, but every time I come up with a blank screen and teary eyes because there are just not adequate words to express the level of appreciation I have for each and every one of you. Especially Dave for his neverending support and donation of the most special Amphicars to ever exist. He is the definition of a true friend.

I spoke with my girlfriend about this because I am deeply torn here. I have never been very good at accepting help for several reasons which I won't go into here. I feel like there are certainly more deserving people out there and in our club. I have always made my own way and never hesitated to offer a hand because I like to do that. Amy made me realize that others like to help as much as I do so I should just "shut the #&@* up". So I will STFU and humbly accept your overwelming generosity and kindness with everlasting respect and humility.

This chapter in the "life of John" has not been ideal, but with the support from you and so many people around me, I am sure that my body will heal and eventually I will get back on my feet again (OK, ya know what I mean!:005:) This whole thing has had many bright spots in my life too. I have met many new friends (including one very special lady) and gained a new confidence in man-kind.

Again, I offer each and every one of you, my deepest and most sincere gratitude for this. You can't possibly know how much this gesture means to me.

"A friend is one to whom one can pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keeping what is worth keeping, and, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away." - Arabian Proverb
