Amphicar Maintenance Videos

A few weeks ago, mention was made about Bill Syx having a couple of completed
Amphi Maintenance Videos. However, the referenced subjects were different from
the videos described at East Coast Amphicar's web site.

So, just to straighten things out, what videos are currently available, and what
is the cost? Secondly, are any more videos in progress and do you have an
estimated completion date?

In response to the posting below, I don't understand why you think "the
referenced subjects were different from the videos described at East Coast
Amphicar's web site", since the East Coast Amphicar website just links to
the advertisement on the Club Classifieds page at
http://www.amphicar.com/ads.htm#videos . There is no other description of
the tapes within the East Coast Amphicar site at
http://www.galloweb.com/~amphicar/ .

I know that the two tapes available, "Clutch Cable Replacement" and "Rear
Axle Replacement" were to be the first of a series of such tapes, covering
everything from stem to stern, but that the response to these first
available tapes has been so meager (I think Billy told me a few months ago
that he'd actually sold a total of only something like three tapes) that the
rest of the project has been permanently back-burnered from obvious lack of
interest.

Billy doesn't spend a lot of time on line...in fact, practically none...so
if you want the lowdown or perhaps request that the videos project be
revived, then you should call him. Phone contact info and answers to
Frequently Asked Questions can be had in seconds from East Coast Amphicar by
sending a blank email to their autoresponder at eca@amphicar.net .

The post that caught my interest said:

The web site that you directed me to says:
>Clutch Cable Replacement
>Rear Axle Replacement
>Other episodes now in production and available soon are Brake Job and
Clutch Job.

I'm sorry. I thought those titles sounded different. Perhaps the "rear axle
replacement" and a "drive shaft replacement" are the same. Perhaps there's
only two available videos. Or maybe 3, or maybe 4, with 2 more ready next
week. (It did say "soon".) I expect to order some, or all, of his videos. It
just shouldn't be so difficult to know in advance what I'm buying.

What can I say? Billy's web site is the face of his business. It doesn't
seem to have been updated for over a year. Billy's web site doesn't allow
on-line orders, but it does suggest a Fax number for contact. I sent him a
Fax, asking about titles and prices (I seem to recall him offering a club
discount). Unfortunately, he never answered my Fax, so I thought someone
else might know about his offerings. If he had an email address, I must have
missed it.

Since you couldn't answer my question either, it looks like the only way is
to call ECA. (I find it difficult to synchronize Eastern business time with
my west coast Amphi hours.) I just hope I don't get a voice-mail.

Anyone interested in an amphicar maintenace video should call Billy at
609-625-1015. We did make several, I don't remember which ones exactly. If
there are other video's people want we can make more, however there has not been
much call for any of them and they are a lot of work to make.
