Amphicar for sale

I am aware of a '64 red Amphi for sale in the Atlanta area. Motivated seller
and this car in nice condition could go for under $20,000.

OK, here goes. We have decided to sell our 1964 Amphi, as we have taken it
out twice in the past six months! We bought the car last year from Larry S.,
after he spent something like six years restoring it. We have continued the
restoration with new and correct large whitewall tires ($850), updated bilge
pump, rebuilding carb, etc. We even have one of the new windshield in the
crate. Only thing that is not working is the horn, which it did when Larry
shipped the car to us. This car runs/drives/floats perfect. Perfect
cosmetics, interior, bilge, paint etc. Car is rust free due to a ton of work
by Larry. I'm sure he would be glad to answer any question about the resto
(Larry is that OK?). We have bought a second home in Hawaii and have decided
to use the money to buy some throw away car for there . Anyway, this is
how I found the car by posting a wanted ad, so I though I would try it this
way first before advertising in Hemmings or something of that nature. We
would like to get our money, not time out of car. It has been drive less than
75 miles since we got it from Larry, so it has a whopping 120 miles on the
restoration! Would like to get $31,000 for it. Yes, you might restore one
cheaper, if your time is worth $5 bucks an hour, and don't mind spending the
next 3-5 years working on it and not enjoying it. If anyone is seriously

I'll post a photo on the Yahoo Group site. It's not a low priced car but I do
need to sell something so I'll discuss offers. It's been stored for years and
not that it matters much but it was a Pepsi Dist. car from Ohio. The cars
excellent down to the original interior. The only thing it seems to need is one
vent post window which has a crack and it's original muffler is getting weak.

I don't post often, but enjoy reading yours when I can. A splendid
fellow in upstate New York has contacted me regarding his Amphicar
Project he wishes to sell. It is a green 67, fairly complete, but in
storage a long time and needing a complete resto. You can find more
info on the car on a website a friend of his has put up at
www.pointauroche.com He has a figure in mind of 7K, but is willing to
consider offers. The car is in Plattsburgh, north of Albany, 55 miles
south of Montreal. You can fly Jet Blue to Burlington Vermont, then
drive 45 minutes.

The owner, George Hubbell is in his 80's and has Parkinson's. For
this reason, he cannot finish the project. I do believe if anyone in
NY could give him a ride in a finished car, great joy would be had!

It is not running after being stored for years. When I purchased it I put
some marvel oil in the plug holes and was amazed to find the original lodge
plugs still in place. The orig. muffler is also still in place but it way
to far gone to use. It's from and is in storage in western Michigan. It's
very solid on the underside and has a lot of surface rust but not a lot of
rust through. The pole light, wooden trunk panels and tool kit are still
with the car. The interior is also quite nice.

As I said it's not running but I haven't really played with it yet. The
electric work and this would be a dream project based on the cars
completeness and originality. I'll place a photo in the file section if
anyone wants to take a look. Please email me if your interested, want to
see the car or have questions. I'm looking for a min. of $12,500.00 and
it's well worth this price.

Past few weeks I have been getting Emails about a barn fresh Amphi. Then
I got the call. Non running ,rusted hood, in primer with rust showing.
Missing some small pieces. He said 45. I said I would buy at $4500 if
the car rolls. No no no he said add a zero. So if You need a fixer upper
one is for sale near Cincinnati $45,000 is his asking price. My fully
restored one looks like a bargain at $46,000 Later Dave
