Amphicar Enclosed Trailer For Sale

Hi All,

I am putting up for sale my enclosed Amphicar trailer.
I am pretty certain that it is this exact trailer if you would like to see it:
Cargo Express 6' x 14'

This is a professionally manufactured "not so big trailer" all set up for the amphicar with lots of extras like three side doors, power winch, leveling hitch included with anti-swaybar. I have also added brakes to the second axle as this is a requirement in states like PA. ANother add I did was to run 2x2's along the ramp and bed to make guiding the amphi inside much easier.

Now, a sale has to have a sad story to go with it and boy, do I have a good one.

I bought this one back in November to replace my open aluminum trailer. Following a looong drive to go get it, I walked up the trailer ramp and banged my head on the doorway. This caused me to stagger backwards and then fall on the ground directly on my left elbow...:dft004: It was determined that not only did I break my elbow but I did so in such a spectacular manner that I had to return to Philadelphia where one of the country's top orthopedic surgeons placed three screws in there. Thankfully Ron Gaydis was with me at the time and got stuck with driving myself, my SUV, and the trailer back east. We brought Ron's Amphi back in at and indeed it is a nice, easy to tow unit.

So, seventy session of physical therapy later (yes 70, you add up the co-pays) and I have what my wife calls the $10,000 trailer. Unfortunately, I also have an elbow with very limited range of motion that I can not bend beyond about 85 degrees. But it gets worse! Being an enclosed trailer, just the right size for the Amphi, means that securing Amphi with the tie-downs requires that you open the doors on either side and manuever your way under the car to an extent. Prior to breaking my elbow this would not be so a problem but now it requires assistance from my 11 year old or some stranger at the boat ramp. I am now in a situation where, less than a year after getting rid of my open trailer for an enclosed one that I must go back to an open one (or a really big closed one which I do not want to deal with storing or towing). I have located an open featherlite but need to sell what I now have to close the deal.

I would like to get $4,000 out of it but am open to reasonable offer. Again, you can see it at:
Cargo Express 6' x 14'

Thanks,

Mike I.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass. Bought new, this trailer would probably run you close to $6k with all the options. I do have some negotiating room on price but ultimately need to fund purchase of a new open trailer. (The price of aluminum trailers has gone through the roof since I purchased and sold my last one) :012:.

BTW, my trailer is located in Pennsylvania. Thus, I suspect the logistics of pick up would be daunting from Oklahoma.

I have listed it on Craigslist and suspect that someone local will pick it up as an ATV hauler or similar. Just figured that since it is set up for Amphicar I would offer it here as well.

Hi All,

OK, the trailer is now on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?viewitem=&item=230261958655&rd=1

Now, as much as I would like you to go crazy with the bidding, I gotta be perfectly honest with my fellow Amphibians or I could not sleep well. This trailer is a royal pain in the ass for loading, unloading, or tying down. Yes, an Amphicar does fit inside but just barely. Yes, it is set up for an Amphicar with the extra door, wheel stops in place, etc. Still, I suspect there is a good reason why I am now the third owner and neither previous owner kept it for very long.

Rob, I think many of your NSB trailers are indeed just right for Amphi and well set up for Amphi. This model is not one of them and is not one I could recommend to anyone.

I recently added 2x2 strips along the sides of the ramp and the deck which do make loading and unloading much easier in that you have some warning before you potentially hit the sides of the doorway. Still, it is not much fun if you want to simply load up and go. If you really have to have the smallest enclosed trailer into which Amphi will fit then please bid away. Just don't say I did not give you full disclosure about what you were getting.
