Amphicar Antennas

[Randy Bograd]

My '67 came with an antenna mounted on the right fender, a few inches from the
windshield. Is this legit or a rogue modification? Do I fill the hole or keep
the antenna?

My understanding, perhaps incorrect, is that the
radios were a dealer fitted option as were side
mirrors. Thus, mounting positions for the antenna may
vary. I do not think there is a right or wrong
location. My antenna is located in about the same
spot as your own. Unless you plan to eliminate the
radio I would leave it as is.

Randy,
I also have an antenna on the right side real close to windshield
although I don't have a script AMPHICAR radio, mine is a RCA I
believe that this was at least put in by the dealer that sold the car.

I have a windshield mount antenna that I am going to use. The type
that has the thin wire and clear tape. I was thinking I could remove
the tape and place the wire hidden inside the rubber molding around
the windshield. Hopefully it will still work well, or I could add a
booster too. Just an idea.
