Amphi YahooGroups Files Area

Hi All,

This evening I went through the files area and did a
bit of cleaning up to free some space. Unfortunately,
Yahoo does not give me the option to make the files
area larger even for a fee.

Anyway, I am always reluctant to delete anything
unless it is way off topic. What I did do is mostly
went after very large files which were just your
typical shots of Amphi "posing" on land or in water.
If they were large but had some technical merit or
were just plain unusual I left them be.

When you do post files I would ask that you reduce the
resolution / size down to "screen quality".
Generally, a picture should not be much more than
about 80kb. Many of the ones I removed were over
500kb in size.

Hope this gives us some room to grow in the files area
for a little while anyway.

BTW, the stars are all in alignment for Celina. Amphi
is ready (I'll wait to redo the rear quarters until
afterward). Room is booked, I now have a truck and
have reserved a trailer from U-Haul.

Thanks,

Mike Israel

Here's a great link to bookmark right now: There's a free, quick and easy
tool to help shrink those image files down to reasonable sizes called
"Jpegwizard" that can can be found at http://www.jpegwizard.com/ .

All you do is point it at a photo on your hard drive, floppy or CD, and
Jpegwizard will trim it down to a variety of smaller file sizes, even
displaying you the various slimmed results. You then just download the
desired slimmed version and upload THAT to the files section. It's also
handy if you have a website and want it to load quicker, or if you're just
emailing a photo or photos to someone and don't want them to have to hang
around for minute after minute while some over-bloated file downloads. This
is especially true for folks who use those film developing services that'll
also give you a photo CD. The file sizes on such CDs are often nearly ten
times what is actually required. I'd be surpised if that 500 kb file that
Mike mentions below wouldn't trim down to 50 kb, or even less, and what is
more, you would probbaly be VERY hard pressed to tell which is which on a
computer screen.

Try Jpegwizard. You'll like it.
