Amphi Transmission Removal

Hi-

Can the transmission be removed with the engine in? If so, there must be tricks to get the tranny and engine to part and then get back together again. Can one person do it?

The archives suggest it can be done, but my back says it can't. Any help would be appreciated.

Steve yes one person can do it. I do. I have an electric winch in the rafters above my car that works well. Trans is about 75lbs (?). Be sure to block up the engine block or suspend it from a 4x4 placed across the body (pad it under!) Place styrofoam cups or similar in the double lip seals to help avoid oil spills.

If you dont have a need to pull the axels from the hubs, just disconnect brake cable and hard line, remove shock bolt and the remainaing 5 flange bolts on the ocillating arm. then you can slide it out as an assy leaving it just partially inserted for easy re-assembly. Its heavy, watch yer toes!

I would like to purchase the two wheel cylinders, and the master
cylinder. I will wait on the latch for now.

Charles - I received an e-mail you addressed to me on the Amphicar-Lovers
site referring to wheel cylinders and a Master cylinder. I have no
knowledge of what you referred to and do not have parts for sale. I only went about
procuring the artwork and can provide the Amphicar Patches in the 4
factory colors as shown in the ad on the Amphicar site. Incidentally, I
appreciate your Microcar & Minicar Event invitation. Unfortunately, we cannot
attend, though we would love to. We worked it in the last time in a round robin
extended trip which included Nova Scotia. Even then, we had to forego a
Moxie Celebration in Lisbon Falls, Maine, which took place at the same time
and which I have wanted to attend as I am a Moviemobile fan. Are you
familiar at all with Moxie or what I refer to when I mention Moxiemobiles or Moxie
cars? There was a time in the mid twenties when the Moxie drink outsold
Coca Cola. It is still available, though not widely advertised or
distributed. Anyway, as you can appreciate, from Florida, the events in the
northeast are a bit far away. Your show which we attended was really nice and we
greatly enjoyed your hospitality and the whole event that we attended. My
ride in the Peel Trident was memorable as was following it on the road at 40
mph.

Steve,
IF you need an extra pair of hands I may be able to help. I just pulled my tranny out a couple of weeks ago with the motor still installed.
