Most of the time our Amphi is just for fun, something that gives our neighbors a
chuckle or smile. But this changed Sunday as heavy rains flooded our
neighborhood along the Milwaukee River. With the river 2+ feet over it's banks
and all low areas lakes, Amphi became a water taxi. Sand bags were carried in
and people were carried in and out to houses. Amphi even took the school bus
manager on a tour so he could figure out where the buses could get through.
With the only dry ground between our house and one neighbor, we declared it an
island. The kids thought it was fun to have Amphi take them to school! When I
went to school at the end of the day and saw my son's teacher following him out,
I knew he was coming out to check out the car! Amphi caused the usual stir of
excitement. Nick and Amphi got a write up in todays Journal/Sentinel newspaper
and an inclusion in channel 18's (Milwaukee's WB affiliate) weather coverage

The last big flood was when Nick was restoring the amphicar. We had wished it
was done at that time, because we could for see how helpful it would be. We are
really glad it was done this time because this flood was worse than the one in
'96!
