Thanks for the recommendation, Bilgey.

After we left 18 degree San Angelo, Tx (YES IT WAS
TEXAS) we headed way south for four days in Big Bend
National Park. Beautiful, WARM and terrific. Despite
frequent suggestions and offers from other campers and
rangers, we did not attempt to launch into the Rio
Grande. Besides no good sites, the water was so low
we could have just driven in the mud.

As Bilgey suggested, we did spend a night in
Terlingua, Ghost Town. It was Saturday night, and as
good luck would have it, it was "Greening of the Ghost
Town" day and there were hundreds of volunteers
working in the area. We received a great reception as
we joined them (after work) on the "porch" to share
some cold brews and listen to impromptu music. There
was some concern among the natives that we knew
something they didn't, as we had a Boatcar in the
heart of the desert. A super time.

We're now in (not so) sunny Southern California
enjoying the super hospitality of Ed Howard. Quite a
few neighbors have been intrigued by the sight of two
Amphicars and an Isetta out front. Due to the weather
the Playboy stayed inside. We were able to make it to
Lake Irvine today for a nice swim after the 3" of rain
yesterday. We quit after about an hour when the rain
and hail began again.

Tomorrow we'll relocate to Lake Casitas and swim with
Allan Woodcock (and maybe John Freise) on Tuesday. As
we'll drive within 3 miles of Santa Fe Springs, we've
planned a stop to visit Hugh Gordon and see what 5
warehouses of Amphicar parts looks like. After all of
these years, I may actually own part of one of the
buldings!

Spring is coming! Keep those wheels wet.....
