Amphi History

Hi Was reseaching vehicle history on the web when I came across an interesting fact I did not know. The Amphicar was built by the Quandt group who in 1959 bought controlling interest in BMW. This is still the same to this day. So I guess our Amphicars are cousins of BMW. Bill Fenemore

Well, maybe distant cousins. For instance, a Dodge hemi Charger isn't quite
the cousin of a Maybach. I like to think of an Amphi as more like Doctor
Frankenstein's most successful project, assembled from a collection of late
50's German car parts (a bit of Borgward here, a piece of Benz there, a snip
of Porsche, a dash of VW & some totally original stuff too), with a heart
transplant from the Coventry morgue.

It's alive! I say, it's alive!
