Aluminum trim

Hi
Brian from Quincy here. I have the original trim up in the rafters in the garage and last I looked it was a little banged up. So my question is do I restore or buy new?
I have some metal tools and a buffer, and lots of time at the moment. Your thoughts?
Thanks and stay safe

Hi Gord
I must be psychic because I was thinking the same thing and that is what oos (old old stock) is still up in the rafters. I shot Allen an email this morning and am waiting for a quote. Thanks for your reply and stay safe

Hi Brian,
Quincy, Michigan?

Back before Alan had trim available I was able to have many pieces restored to like new condition at a place called Vintage Vehicles Inc. in Wautoma, WI. Obviously, you would need the correct tools and technique to both straighten, repair & polish pieces ravaged by an inexperienced disassembly person (me).

Good luck!

Hi Mark
Quincy Mass.
I took the trim down from the rafters and its a little banged up. It has a few cuts 1/8 inch wide, some dents, and in need of a good buffing. I will clean up a test piece and see how it looks. I might go with Allen if the clean up and buff is to much or doesn't look good.

It's anodized and you have to get that off before you can buff it. You can do it chemically or by sanding, it's a pain and very time consuming.

Hi
I have trim from Allen and it is beautiful. Any tips or secrets to putting it on. Allen said to "use 3m adhesive and be very very careful". Its the "very very" part that has me concerned. I will also give him a call for Info but I can always learn more form asking you guys too.
What product do I use? Squeeze tube, caulking gun cartridge, tape?
How much do I use, a dab her and there or a continuous bead.
Thanks in advance, I don't want to make a mess or have it fall off.
