We heard yesterday that Alan Jackson, the country music artist, owns an
Amphicar. He was on the Rosie O'Donnel show and said that a record executive
gave the car to him!

Anybody heard about this?

Is he a member of the club?

From alanjackson.com;

"Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time kicked off the evening as
attendants enjoyed complimentary Southern dishes, sat on hay bales
and took in some great bluegrass from the large outdoor stage. A
presentation followed, along with the declaration of 'Alan Jackson
Day' and a gift from Jackson's label and management: a rare, 1965
aqua blue Amphicar, which is both convertible car and boat--it
literally drives into the water. During the ceremony, Joe Galante
(Chairman, RLG Label Group) awarded Jackson a plaque commemorating
his sales, and complimented Alan on his many creative accolades,
among them the fact that Jackson has written 23 of his 26 Number One
hits."

And from country.com

"The high point for Jackson came when Joe Galante, chairman of the
RCA Label Group (of which Arista is a part), presented the singer
with a 1965 "amphicar," a vehicle that travels on both land and
water. "That's the coolest thing I've ever seen," the water-loving
Jackson marveled. "I've wanted one of those since I was a boy."

Hopefully Alan will become a part of the club soon. I have never met
the man, but I have heard he is a genuinely nice guy. (Willie Nelson
told me that just a week ago BTW)

Alan, if your listining, please join the club and I am certain that
you will be welcomed as we have everybody else with this affliction.
You can be rest assured that you will find that we are all a great
group of people.
