It's time to start planning for the 2nd Annual Wisconsin Amphicar
Club Swim-In @ Anchor Inn, hosted by Caryl & Marty. To be held over
the 4-day weekend of July the 4th.
This swim-in takes place in southern Wisconsin on the Rock River and
Lake Koshkonong. The Anchor Inn may be found in beautiful downtown
Newville, which is located 8 miles north of Janesville and about 30
miles south of Madison. An area map may be found in the files
named "Anchor Inn Map".
We had 5 cars and over 20 friends last year and all had a memorable
time. Even now, we encounter folks that talk about all
those "boatcars" on the water and around town.
Countless individuals recommend we have another swim-in and encourage
more cars to attend.
We have been in contact with John, the owner of The Anchor Inn many
times since last year's swim-in and always discuss how fun it was and
how we drew so many interested people to the Inn and surrounding
areas. He is offering to feed us this year with his famous cuisine
and has also talk about possibly roasting a pig. John wants us to
display our Amphicars on the lawn in front of the Inn, which is on
the busy side of the river where we are sure to have a good time with
all the boaters and passersby who may stop in for a closer glimpse.
We will be having a state newspaper reporter on hand and possibly a
TV crew.
We will again offer our home to those who would like to camp on the
lawn or inside (while rooms last). We do have a very nice Comfort
Inn across the highway from The Anchor Inn for those who want the
luxury of their own room and an indoor swimming pool @ 11102 Goede
