I just replaced one of my rear brake cylinders because it was an undersized
non-original cylinder.
My question however is about my other rear brake cylinder. This cylinder
fits correctly and seems to be the right size, but I discovered it has
two-part pistons. That is, where most pistons have a grove for the rubber
seal, these pistons are completely split in two. There is the main outer
piston that engages the brake shoe, then there is a rubber seal that has NO
hole in its center, and on the inside of the seal is another small metal
disk. The two inner metal disks (one for each piston) have a spring between
them.
Is this something that has been used on Amphicars, or is it from an unknown
source?
Thanks
