Good stuff Craig. Ads with prices compared to VW and Mustang and Camaros are interesting valuations from the period. Also interesting from the Stewart article was the comment that 6000 Amphicars had been produced. Quite an adventure. Thanks for sharing!

Yea I saw that about 6000 to. I have the dates the adds were placed and it seems Jim Thompson wasn't having alot of luck selling the cars. The price was down to $1095 by Oct of 69. His adds all note a 66 car so I'm very courious it it could be mine. I did buy it in Fairbanks in 2001 so it might be. Locals tell me there were only about four of them in town over the years.

And Now For Something Completely Different:
A German cigarette advertising in 1965.
The person is described as a leading foreman in the amphibious vehicles production at DWM Berlin.

Interesting ad. Never seen this one before. Looks like his name is Wolfgang by signature but I cannot translate the German. His car is left hand drive US market as well. You might expect a RHD version for a German ad.

I was thinking that to but I bet the add was done in English originally for US sales then used for German later.
