1500 conversion question

I'm looking for a 1500 exhaust manafold for a 1500 conversion in my
Amphicar. What are the differences from one year to another? I have
Hugh's high performance exhaust and hope it will be compatable. Is
there a particular year I should be looking for or will any 1500
exhaust manafold work?

Craig,

I'm not sure what years they were used on but you want the cast iron
version of the manifold and not the header type.

Craig -

I believe you want the Trimph MK-III (1963-ish) exhaust manifold. It
is the only one that exits straight down rather than at an angle.
I have a built 1500 that will be going in my driver one day.
Ported/polished, pro built for the high RPMs an Amphi will provide.

John & Craig,

You don't want a manifold that exits straight down, you want it to
have a slant towards the front of the car so that the exhause pipe
will clear the Amphi floor. That exhaust header has a bigger opening
than the original so you need a pipe that is bigger from the manifold
to the muffler. Hugh sells something that's a starting point to work
with but I have a local muffler guy fabricate and weld the whole thing
together. The whole deal, exhause pipe, muffer and tailpipe come out
as one unit.

I think the years were around 67 - 70 for the cast manifold. Triumph
was still using the 1147 in 1963.
